1 or 3 Phase?

Our recommendation: Choose 1-phase if you are powering a home, RV, or small business. Choose 3-phase if you are powering machinery, industrial HVAC systems, or large motors. If you have a mix of loads, a 3-phase generator can often provide both, but will require balancing.

Require Automatic Switching?

An Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is an intelligent, self-acting device that monitors utility power and automatically switches a facility’s electrical load to a generator during a power outage.

Description

800 kW Cummins Diesel Generator EPA Tier 2 (Standby)

The 800 kW Cummins Diesel Generator (Standby) – EPA Tier 2 is a high-capacity standby power solution designed for emergency and backup power applications. Rated at 800 kW / 1000 kVA, the generator operates at 60 Hz and can be configured for single-phase or three-phase operation, with voltage customizable to suit the application.

At the heart of the generator is a Cummins KTA38-G2 diesel engine. This heavy-duty 12-cylinder, 37.8-liter engine features turbocharging and aftercooling, water cooling, electronic governing, and an operating speed of 1800 RPM. The Cummins engine data sheet further specifies a 4-cycle, 60° Vee configuration with a 6.25 × 6.25-inch bore and stroke and 14.5:1 compression ratio.

Electrical power is produced by a Stamford S6L1D-C self-excited, brushless alternator with 0.8 power factor, AVR voltage regulation, Class H insulation, and IP23 protection. The included Stamford technical data shows that the alternator platform supports a 1000 kVA / 800 kW continuous Class H rating at 480V and 60 Hz, matching the generator’s 800 kW output requirement.

Generator control is provided by the DEIF AGC 150, which combines genset protection and control with advanced power-management capabilities. The controller supports automatic mains failure applications, synchronization, breaker control, load sharing, and generator power management.

The generator is housed in a silent, weatherproof enclosure and incorporates a large 660-gallon fuel tank for extended standby capability. Additional equipment includes dual MCCBs, UL main breaker and wiring, UL battery charger, UL coolant heater, UL battery disconnect switch, permanent-connection base entry, and 2-wire remote start.
